Killer Within is the second adult fiction book by Jeff Gunhus. He has previously written a young adult trilogy. Arnie Millhouse seems like a normal guy. He’s a millionaire, has a teenage son, and seems like a typical guy. Yet behind the mask of normality he’s a ruthless serial killer no one knows about, not even his own son. When his name pops up during the murder investigation of a high end call girl, he quickly makes plans to disappear. And chance brings him the perfect victim for a final kill, the beautiful Allison McNeil. However, Allison knows about him and will do anything to get close to him, despite her own dark secret. You couldn’t have asked for a more different book from his previous, Night Chill, which was a supernatural horror. Killer Within is a mystery/suspense/thriller, and I was hooked from the very start. The book starts off with Arnie as a beaten down, insecure father you sympathize with, and within the space of a few pages he snaps. While being an innocent ...

Book Review – Prince Iggy and the Tower of Decisions by Aldo Fynn
Prince Iggy and the Tower of Decisions is the second book in the Prince Iggy series by Aldo Fynn. It’s aimed at 8 to 12 years olds. Since Iggy has escaped the Kingdom of Naysayer, he’s had several fun adventures while sailing toward the Rose Kingdom. However, after noticing a problem with the Rose Star, he and the crew blast off into space…leading to a most interesting development for Iggy. And that is only the start. Once arriving at the Rose Kingdom, he must go through the Tower of Decisions in order to take the throne back from Queen Victoria. If he doesn’t, he may never make it out of the tower alive. Much like the first book, it’s full of lots of great tongue-in-cheek humor. I absolutely loved the introduction to Queen Victoria’s character. She’s out of touch with the kingdom, reality, and her nose…which falls off her face due to the sheer number of plastic surgeries she’s had. Iggy also learns some important lessons as well. Not everyone is perfect, so you are going to mess up ...

Book Review – Prince Iggy and the Kingdom of Naysayer by Aldo Fynn
Prince Iggy and the Kingdom of Naysayer is a kid’s story by Aldo Fynn. It’s geared for ages 8 to 12. Iggy Rose is horribly bullied on a daily basis, even by his teachers. After having his once possession, a ring, taking by King Naysayer, he finds out who he really is and winds up going on fantastical adventure. The story is very imaginative and well written. You sympathize with Iggy right from the start, being that he seems to be the only person with any sort of moral compass. Everyone else thinks its okay to lie, cheat and do whatever they want. Since he is so drastically different, he is bullied as a way to break him enough to conform…and for the bullies own personal amusement. He is affected in the beginning but as his character develops, he realizes that the bullies were wrong and he gains confidence. All of the other characters were also well written and developed. The plot moves along well too. The illustrations by Richie Vicencio are also very good and help bring scenes to ...
Book Review – Night Chill by Jeff Gunhus
Night Chill is the first adult novel by Jeff Gunhus. He has previously written the young adult series The Templar Chronicles. Jack Tremont moves this family to Western Maryland in an attempt to restart his life after a terrible accident. However, he finds his family caught in a nightmare when a man targets his youngest daughter in hopes to strengthen an ancient, dark power. As Jack digs deeper into the past of the town, he discovers a dark secret that reaches farther than he could ever imagine. Unable to trust anyone, how far will he go to save his daughter? Unlike his previous novels, this one is definitely not for kids. It is very dark, and focuses on a group of people doing sacrificial rituals in order to gain immortality. It was fast paced and very well written. The supernatural, mystery and horror all meshing into a very thrilling book and I wasn’t able to put down. The character development is exceptional and the plot never loses steam. You can’t help but feel for Jack while ...
How Andrew Got His Spots Book Review & Giveaway
How Andrew Got His Spots is a children’s book by Louis Lintvelt. Mrs. Lintvelt has always enjoyed reading since she was young, and her two year old daughter is a source of constant inspiration for her stories. The story follows a giraffe named Andrew who is upset that he doesn't have spots. The giraffe goes for a walk and asks several animals that he happens upon how they got their spots. Each animal has a different story, but hearing them only makes Andrew sadder. While taking a nap, the sunlight streams down and gives him his spots. Like the previous story I reviewed by Mrs. Lintvelt, my daughter really liked it. She loved the part about the fairy giving the ladybug it's spots. The artwork by Julie Sneeden is wonderful. Overall, the story is very cute and is a very enjoyable children's book. It's available in several formats on Amazon. You can follow Mrs. Lintvelt at her Author Blog, on Goodreads & Google+, or through her Newsletter Sign-Up. * Blog Tour Giveaway ...
