The Sinus Infection That Would Not DIE!! has been ongoing sinus infection madness over here.  My daughter is getting hit worst of all.  There is something in her school that is aggravating her sinuses and she been almost constantly sick since right after school started.   She's been sick all weekend and I'm probably going to keep her home tomorrow.  I couldn't get her in to she her doctor until Tuesday.  It's looking like we are going to have to take her to a specialist to get something prescribed to her in order to keep it … [Read more...]

The Post Vacation Update

This past week has been super hectic, and I am so far behind on housework and yard work that I can't even joke about it.  I wasn't even home a full day before our AC went out, again.  This time it was the fan motor that went.  I took a day to get the part in, so we had to say at my parents house.  My husband was able to get it the new motor in quickly, but it still took a better part of the day for the house to cool off...being that it's been hitting near/over 100 here.  While we waited, we … [Read more...]

Vacation Days

Well, today was out last day at the beach.  Not only did my grandmother come down again, but my aunt & uncle also came down a well and got to meet my daughter for the first time.  I'm be writing up at last a three part trip report in the come week, but it will probably take me a few days to get caught up on everything.  I didn't get a chance to get much done work-wise this week. … [Read more...]

Day Trip DFW – Ham Orchard (Terrell, TX)

My husband’s work schedule has loosened up a little, so he’s been able to actually get his days off more often than not lately. We don’t get to do a lot as a family usually and since this is the last summer before our daughter starts school, we wanted to take advantage of being able to get away and do a little something…even if it’s just for a day. The Dallas/Fort Worth area has tons of activities and attractions to keep everyone busy for the summer, or any other time of the year. While you … [Read more...]

Rain, Rain, GO AWAY!!!!

It has rained almost every day this month. Why won't it stop?!?!?!?  We've been lucky to dodge some of the worse, more severe storms...though my husband had a very close call with a tornado last week while at work.  One came about 5 to 10 minutes from hitting his store.  He said everyone was freaking out and they had to evacuate the customers and lock the store down for over two hours. The worst day so far this week was Monday.  In less than 15 minutes, my yard was partially underwater & … [Read more...]

Tornadoes & Brisket!

For those of you that read my Facebook Page, my Mother's Days was a tad bit crazy.  It was my husband's first day off in the last 15 - 18 days & he was smoking a brisket.  My daughter and I were trying to finish up a cute craft gift for my mom.  And Mother Nature decided to remind us why it is important to not only have a tornado preparedness plan, but to also have a weather radio on hand as well. The past two months have been nothing but rain.  We need it due to the drought, but just not … [Read more...]

Christmas Time & New Year Resolutions

I love Christmas.  There's lights, decorations, a live tree which can be put into the corner of my living room that somehow won't affect my sinus.  There is also my birthday...wait...never mind, let's not go there (I'm old!!!).  The one downside is that it's the end of the year, which brings it's own unique stress.  With it being Fourth Quarter, husband is barely home since he's management at at a certain box-store.  About two weeks ago, he called and said that the store had a very bad visit and … [Read more...]

Bad Luck & Hot Summer Days

Well, it's currently 105 degrees here, making the days feel like they are dragging by.   Sleep has been uncomfortable, so I haven't been getting much.  We've had a lot going on lately and it's cause me to majorly slack off from the site as of late. Bad luck always seems to comes is threes...and we were certainly hit with the space of a few weeks.  The first was the outflow pipe on the kitchen sink clogging up.  I think I mentioned this at some point in the last two months, but I can't … [Read more...]

Vacation time!

Yay!  We all made it to the beach in once piece.  Unfortunately, my husband found out at the last minute he couldn't come since he has a second interview for a store manager position tomorrow.  He's still on vacation, he just can't go anywhere.  And even if he decided to fly in, it would only leave him about three days.  So, he's doing stuff around the house.  He wanted to work on stuff outside, but it has been raining nonstop since we left and it doesn't look like it will let up until the end … [Read more...]

Make a Pledge to the Reading Rainbow Kickstarter Campaign!

While I was growing up, one of my favorite shows was Reading Rainbow.  I help instill a love for reading that I still have to this day.  The massive stacks of books in my bedroom and living room bookshelf is a testament to that.  LeVar Burton has been working on bringing back Reading Rainbow as an app for children to use both at home and in schools.  A few weeks back he started a Kickstarter Campaign and reached his goal of $1 million in less than 11 hours.  Since then, he has set the goal … [Read more...]
