The idea of starting a blog or website can be overwhelming. Even people who have been writing for themselves for years may find their heads spinning a bit at the idea of setting up an attractive website, preparing content, sharing content, and gaining new users. The good thing is that blogging has been around long enough that many services are now available to help even amateur bloggers get started, and blogging has come to gain a lot more acceptance in the literary world. As with any writing project, the key to starting a blog is silencing the inner critic, so your perfectionism doesn’t stop you from making any progress at all. Here are a few resources to help you. Determine the Blog Type The most successful blogs focus on a specific topic. It’s easier to attract readers if you can find a niche that you all are interested in, and seek out conversations on similar blogs or websites that might direct people to what you have to say. You can also check out other blogs that have lots of ...

Updates, Updates, and More Updates
I have been a naughty blogger again by getting caught up in way too much going on. It seems to have been one thing after another lately. So, instead of several updates, I'm just going to do one big post to try to get stuff caught up. Email Woes Yahoo is the most annoying thing in the world. You would think that after all the years they have been doing business that they would have figured out how to work out/fix issues with their email. I'm going to apologize now if you have emailed me over the past few weeks. Yah-Hell (as my friends and I call it now) deciding that almost everything coming into my inbox was spam. Now, one of three things happened to this so called 'spam'. It would either a). go into the SPAM/BULK folder with hundreds of real spam and I would end up spending half the day sorting through stuff, b). vanish completely to pop up either in the inbox or spam folder several days later, or c). vanish never to be seen, heard of, or even known it was sent in the first ...
Product Review – COVERPLUG
Last week, I was sent a set of COVERPLUGS to test out and review. COVERPLUG is a plastic panel that plugs directly into the grounding plugs of an outlet and covers it completely. They are paintable, so that you can easily have them match the wall cover, and are made in the USA. My house is older, so many of our outlets are the older kind without grounding plus. However, all of the outlets in my daughter’s room are new, since we replaced them before she was born. I normally use those little safety covers, but I have a hard time getting them off if I need to get to the outlet...plus, for whatever reason, she tends to notice the outlet more if I have them in. Putting in the COVERPLUG is super easy. Just line up the prongs on the back with the grounding plus and push it in. It completely covers the outlet, keeping it completely out of site. My daughter never even noticed the outlet. I hope that they make some that work in the older outlets because we could really use ...
Product Review – Harvest Snaps
A few weeks ago, I was sent several bags of Harvest Snaps to try out and review. Harvest Snaps are flavored snapea crisps and lentil snaps. They are baked, high in fiber, and gluten free. There are a variety of flavors in both types. For the snapeas, there is Lightly Salted, Ceaser, Black Pepper, and Wasabi Ranch. For the lentils, there are Tomato Basil & Onion Thyme. I got to try them all. The snaps are a bit different than I expected. You would think that they are deep-fried or something when you first open the bag. They are…puffy, for lack of a better word. The first flavor I tried was the lightly salted. I wasn’t overly crazy for it, but my daughter loved them. In fact, she liked all the flavors. I think our favorite flavor was the Wasabi Ranch since we like spicy stuff. I’ve been mostly giving them to my daughter for snacks since she likes them so much. I also eat some so that I’m making sure to get some extra fiber. They are definitely something I will ...
