A few days ago, I was sent a DVD copy of Scooby-Doo! 13 Spooky Tales: Surf’s Up Scooby-Doo!, the newest release for Scooby-Doo. The gang head out to a Florida beach resort for vacation…and to attempt to cure Fred of his net obsession. They see an obscene amount of net-themed decor, food, beaches, and a sea monster?! Will the gang solve the mystery, or will they be all washed up? Plus there are another 12 episodes to watch, and all of them share a nautical theme. My daughter has absolutely loved this DVD set, and I’ve already lost track of how many times she’s watched it over the past few days. Surf’s Up Scooby-Doo! was hilarious. I loved the whole net obsession with Fred. Who hasn’t thought that about him at least once over the years? They also have a good bit at the beginning with everyone trying to get to his front door & having to dodge traps. It was also great to see some many episode of the original series included too. I grew up watching them, and my daughter was ...

TV Review – The Mentalist Season 7
Since 2008, audiences as followed the escapades of Patrick Jane (Simon Baker), a consulting member of the CBI (California Bureau of Investigation). For the first six seasons, he hunted serial killer Red John and was finally able to get revenge for the death of his family…but at the cost of becoming a fugitive. After 2 years on the run, Jane returns to the US to work for the FBI and to the woman he fell in love with, Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney). The final 13 episodes of The Mentalist find Jane & Lisbon dating and working cases together for the FBI, as well as getting married. I haven’t watched The Mentalist in a long time, so I still have quite a lot to get caught up with. But the final season has closed out the series very well. I don’t want to give out too many spoilers for those who haven’t seen any of the episodes yet…making this review exceedingly difficult to write. The final episodes see Jane and Lisbon take their relationship to the next level and travel around solving ...
Legend of the Neverbeast Review & Giveaway [ENDED]
A few days ago, Disney sent me a copy of Tinkerbell and the Legend of the Neverbeast on Blu-ray Combo Pack. Fawn (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) loves animals, even the more dangerous one. After the arrival of a green comment, she discovers an animal that she’s never seen before & quickly befriends it, naming it Gruff. However, Gruff’s appearance is tied to the appearance of the comet & is believed to bring about the destruction of Pixie Hollow. Will Fawn and the others discover a way to protect Gruff from the Scout Fairies (let by Nyx) and save Pixie Hollow? While the other fairies appear, the movie primarily focuses on Fawn…which is a bit of a departure from many of the previous Tinkerbell films. The storyline was good & I really enjoyed it, though I think that The Pirate Fairy is still my favorite (has nothing to do with Tom Hiddleston, not at all lying through my teeth). My daughter loved the film and has watched it at least 6 times already. However, I thought that ...
Scooby-Doo! Moon Monster Madness Review & Giveaway [ENDED]
A few days ago, Warner Bros. Sent me an early DVD copy of the newest Scooby-Doo movie, Moon Monster Madness, to watch and review. In this outing, the gang wins a trip to space on board Sly Baron’s new space ship, the Sly Star One. When it breaks down, they are forced to land at Sly’s secret moon base. Will they solve the mystery? I grew up watching the old Scooby cartoons, and have enjoyed some of the new movies, especially the ones from ’98 through 2005 (Witch’s Ghost & Legend of the Vampire are my favorites). I haven’t seen any of the ones that have been put out the past three years though. The movie was cute and my daughter liked it. The animation was excellent, as it usually is with the Scooby-Doo movies. There were a lot of funny parts, and I enjoyed the alien looking similar to one of the Aliens aliens. My husband and I also got a kick out of the introduction to Sly’s brother (reminded us of Phantom Limb & his original ‘Revenge Society’ on The Venture Bros.). I ...
Movie Review – Dolphin Tale 2
Last week, Warner Bros. sent me a Blu-Ray copy of Dolphin Tale 2 to watch and review. Dolphin Tale 2 is based on true story of Winter, a dolphin who lost her tail and uses a specially designed prosthetic tail to swim. The movie picks up three years after the first movie ends. Winter’s surrogate mom passes away, leaving Winter’s future at the Clearwater Marine Hospital in jeopardy. If they cannot find another dolphin to pair with Winter, she will be removed and sent to a facility in Texas. When time is about to run out, a juvenile dolphin arrives. Will the dolphin, named “Hope”, accept Winter as her surrogate mother? We enjoyed this one every bit as much as the first movie. The overall theme for this movie was that change can be a good thing. Sawyer is approached by Boston University and invited to go on a SEA Semester program for three months. He is torn about going since he doesn’t want to leave Winter, especially with the possibility of her being moved. Hazel wants to be included ...
Movie Reivew – Dolphin Tale
Last week, Warner Bros. sent me a Blu-Ray copy Dolphin Tale to watch and review. The movie follows the true story of Winter, a dolphin rescued off the coast of Florida who ends up having to have her tail amputated. As she heals at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, which is in the process of possibly being sold/shutdown, she learns how to swim with a side-to-side motion. However, it begins to cause damage to her spine since it’s an unnatural movement for a dolphin. Sawyer, the boy her found her and has been helping take care of her, gets the idea of creating a prosthetic tail after visiting his cousin at the VA Hospital. With the help of Dr. Cameron McCarthy, they develop a tale, but Winter rejects it…smashing it in the process. Will they be able to come up with a tale that Winter can wear and save the aquarium? The movie came out a few years ago, and I had never seen it until now. It was very good and my daughter absolutely loved it. There are a lot of funny moments, and Winter’s ...
