A few weeks ago, I was sent a huge case of assorted flavors of Zevia Soda to try out and review. Zevia is made with Stevia, making it a zero calorie soda. They have 15 flavors currently. I tried some last year that someone had picked up and it was okay, but I thought that the Stevia aftertaste was very strong. This time around, I had an assortment of flavors, so I was better able to judge how much the Stevia affected the taste of the flavors. All of the sodas are very good, and I liked most all of them. Some of the flavors, like cream soda & ginger root beer, have no aftertaste whatsoever. Most of the others have only a minor taste that isn’t all that noticeable once you take a few sips. I did find that the ginger ale & orange were very strong though, making it hard to taste the flavors at times. My favorite part is that since Stevia is all natural, I don’t feel as guilty drinking a lot of soda during the day. Granted, I don’t go crazy drinking it, but at least it is ...
EatSmart Precision Pro Food Thermometer Review
Last week, I was sent an EatSmart Precision Pro Food Thermometer to review. EatSmart carries a wide range of kitchen & households scales, as well as other kitchen gadgets. The Precision Pro Food Thermometer is designed to be easy to use & durable. It reads temperatures in 5 seconds or less, giving it a rapid response time. It’s also splash proof. I’ve reviewed one of their scales in the past, so I was looking forward to testing out this thermometer. I have a corded meat thermometer that’s great if you are going to leave it in the oven, but it takes a long time to get a reading if I’m checking something really quick. With the Precision Pro, I can jab it in and get the time in a few seconds. It allows you to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius, and has the cook to temperatures on the cap so that you’ll know if your meat is done. I’ve used it several times already and it saves a lot of time when compared to my old food thermometer. I really like that it has the cap so that ...
Naturade VeganSmart Shakes Reivew
A few weeks back, I was sent some pouches of Naturade VeganSmart Shakes to review. Natureade VeganSmart is all natural and 100% vegan. The shakes can be used as a healthy meal replacement. It contains probiotics, fiber & omega, 22 vitamins & minerals, and more. To use, mix two scopes (or one pouch) with 9 to 11 ounces of water, juice, or any other non-dairy product. I was sent 4 pouches of Vanilla and 4 pouches of Chai. I ended up using a shaker bottle to mix it with 11 ounces of Vanilla Almond milk. It comes out a lot creamier mixing it that way, plus there aren’t any clumps of powder left. Both flavors taste really good. I may end up mixing the vanilla with plane unflavored Almont Milk in the future thought, since you get a bit of overload on the flavor. The Chai comes out perfect and is definitely my favorite out of the two. They have been working great as a meal replacement when I don’t have the time for breakfast or if I skip lunch. It's also been a great source of ...
Solomon’s Whisper by Sandra Bannan Review
Solomon’s Whisper by Sandra Bannan is the 5th novel in the Liv Bergen series. Grappling with the guilt of her family’s danger the previous Christmas, Liv is questioning her decision of joining the FBI. In an effort to get her to decide to stay, Steeter gives her a cold case to work: the kidnapping and murder of her ten-year-old niece Brianna. As she works deeper into the case, she discovers not only a string of murders, but a conspiracy that causes her to question everyone around her, and if revealed, will change everything. It has been well over a month since I finished this book, and I’m still floored. It’s really hard to be able to properly discuss this book without there being any spoilers, much like my interview yesterday. So if you haven’t read it yet & don’t want plot stuff spoiled, stop at the end of this paragraph. The plot is solid and the end is explosive. I really didn’t see it coming. If you haven’t read it yet, go get it. A lot happened in this book, and it’s ...
An Interview with Author Sandra Brannan (2014)
Last year I got the chance to interview author Sandra Brannan. Her first four books of the Liv Bergen series have been bestsellers, and now the latest book, Solomon's Whisper, is getting ready to be released. I got to read it last month and it literally blew me away. I'm still reeling from the ending! I will warn you now that there are going to be major spoilers in here, so you may want to wait until you read the book. Then again, it make you even more eager to read it. 1. There has been a lot going on with Amazon the past several months, between the ongoing dispute with Hachette & their new $10 monthly unlimited books plan. What are your thoughts on these? Hachette is very brave to take on Amazon. The collective gasp of anticipation about the effect of their cause is audible throughout the industry. Hachette reminds us that stories have value while Amazon is a business changing with a market of buyers. And although I have always cheered on the Davids of the ...
