Several weeks back, I was contacted by Card.com and asked to try out their pre-paid debit cards. You can pick from thousands of card images, and also easily direct deposit your paychecks on the cards or like it to your PayPal account. After quickly verifying my information, I picked out a Walking Dead graphic for my card. I received it in a few days. The Card.com rep had it pre-loaded with $25 that I could use anywhere. I ended up using the card to get the ‘Shallow Gravy’ t-shirt offered by the Venture Bros. T-Shirt Club. It left a few dollars on the card, which I haven’t used yet. These cards are very useful if you don’t have a checking account. You will have all your money right there, and you can pay all your bills with it, get groceries, ect…However, there is a fee for it. The monthly fee for the card is $5.95, but as long as you direct deposit at least $800 over the course of the month, then the fee is waived. There are others fees for different services you can get with ...

Product Review – DreamHost
About two months ago, I was contacted by DreamHost about switching my host service to them. DreamHost has been around for 16 years & offers a variety of hosting options at low prices. They have recently introduced cloud storage, which (as I understand it) is internet-based storage for your website that you pay for as you go. This blog has been on Blogger since I first started it. Blogger has been good but the downside is that I don’t actually own that blog. At any given moment, Blogger can take it down for whatever reason. Moving it to a paid host means that it would be protected from random deletion and I would own it. It’s a good thing to do once your blog gets large enough, but it can be a bit of a challenge sometimes…as I have found out.Transfering from Blogger can be a bit of a challenge. First of all, you will most likely be converting to a WordPress format. Second, if run the risk of messing it up and loosing data if you do it wrong. For a blog my size with a decent ...
Product Review – Poyomi Photobooks
A few weeks ago, I was asked to create a photo book at Poyomi. Poyomi allows you to upload your images and create custom photo books of various sizes. Unlike the other photo books I’ve tried in the past, Poyomi books are paperback, affordable, and you can place bulk orders. Finding a company that offers a good photo book has been a bit difficult. I look for them mainly to be able to show off my photography and graphic design to potential customers. The hard cover ones are nice, but they tend to be very costly and you don’t get a lot of pages. The very first thing I noticed about Poyomi is that you can get a ton of pages for little cost. You can also have multiple images per page with text descriptions or one image per page. I went with one image per page in a 40 page book. I originally had some descriptions but I took them out since they printed over the bottom of the image. It only took me a few minutes to upload all of my images, and a few more minutes to arrange ...
Product Review – YourNovel
A few weeks back, I was asked to check out YourNovel. YourNovel is a site that let’s you pick out a pre-written romance story and customize the characters to be whoever you want. They have over 47 stories that cover a variety of categories, including fantasy (vampires, zombies, pixies), cruises & adventures.Once you pick out your story, you can pick if you want the regular romance or the ‘wild’ romance. The wild romances have slightly more graphic love scenes, but nothing too explicit. They give you a sample scene from both versions to help you decide. Then you can add in all your character info. You get to customize a lot of details about the characters, including names, hair color & perfume/scent. All of the stores use the same form, so you many end up filling info in that doesn’t get used. Once you are done with that, you can order your book. You can choose between getting a hardcover, paperback or ebook. The books are ready in a few days and then mailed out.I got a period ...
Product Review – Dress United
A few weeks back, I was invited to try out Dress United. Dress United is a new shirt printing site that lets you design custom Dresses and hoodies. They several types of t-shirts you can choose from and have a ton of pre-loaded images that you can use for your shirts. The site layout is very easy to navigate. You can pick between unisex, women’s, hoodies & sweatshirts. From there, the shirt options bread down between fabric quality & price. I went with unisex in ‘Fashion Short Sleeve’, which is 100% cotton and very soft. I already had a design ready to use, so I had to resize it down to fit on the shirt. The upload only took a few seconds and then only a few more to adjust it the way I wanted it on the shirt. After placing my order, it only took about 5 days for my shirt to arrive. It came out looking great. Overall, Dress United is great. The shirts are very affordable and the printing done very professionally. The prices will vary depending on what you are ...
