Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the DVD I reviewed in this blog post. The opinions I share are my own. Lucifer returns for a second season of laughs as he and Detective Chloe Decker hit the streets of LE to solve murders and spend more time together (awkwardly!). Not only does Lucifer need to sort out his love life, he and his brother Amenadiel have to deal with ‘mommy dearest’ who escaped from Hell at the end of season one. Like all mothers, Charlotte likes to meddle. And also try to tear down the Pearly Gates as well to get back at her husband, God. This show is funny as Hell, pun totally intended. To watch the Devil constantly trip over himself and make a mess of things while trying to get the girl is hilarious. He takes two steps forward, and then twenty back. This season you also get to see more of the heavenly family dynamic, which easily explains why Lucifer is the way he is: they are all crazy and dysfunctional. He spends the majority ...

Movie Review – Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 picks up a few months after the first left off. After a run-in the Sovereign race, which was mostly Rocket’s fault, Peter Quill meets his father who is Ego the Living Planet. Ego convinces him to come to his planet so that he can learn his destiny. However, Ego isn’t exactly as friendly as he seems, and Peter must decide what makes a father: being blood or being the man who raised him. Disney sent me a digital copy of the movie. I cannot sing the praises of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 enough. It was such a great movie and had so many moments. It’s hard to talk about without giving spoilers, so I’ll pick out my favorite stuff. Dave Batista totally stole every scene he was in with his deadpan delivery, and Kurt Russel always makes a great villain. My favorite part was the Marry Poppins one-liner from Michael Rooker. My co-workers have agreed that it was the best line of the movie. He also had a tear-jerker scene so keep some tissues handy. ...
Movie Review – The Lion King
Disney’s The Lion King is the acclaimed animated film that follows young lion cub Simba as he comes of age and takes his rightful place in the King of the Pride Lands. Tricked by his Uncle Scar into believing he is responsible for the death of his father Mufasa, Simba runs away. He is found by Timon and Pumbaa, a meerkat and warthog, who raise him to adulthood. Will Simba return to Pride Rock and defeat his Uncle? I absolutely loved The Lion King as a kid. I was in middle school when it came out and I remember everyone singing Hakuna Matata for weeks and hearing Can You Feel the Love Tonight every time I turned the radio on. One of my favorite parts of the movie was Scar singing Be Prepared. Jeremy Irons did a phenomenal job with the voice acting and do this day it is still one of my favorite performances. Disney sent me a digital copy of the movie, which has been re-released as part of the Signature Collection. I haven’t watched it in a long time, and my daughter had never seen ...
TV Review – Star Wars Rebels Season 3
Taking place 6 months after the end of the second season, Star Wars Rebels Season 3 picks up Ezra leading a rescue mission and Kanan struggling with his blindness. Maul is still lurking about and a new foe, Admiral Thrawn, has entered the stage. Will the crew of the Ghost continue to prevail against the Empire? What does the future hold in store for them? Season 3 of Rebels was excellent, and it masterfully set up the final season as well. I was very happy to see Admiral Thrawn brought into cannon. The Thrawn Trillogy of the Legends Universe (formerly the Expanded Universe) was one of the best written (my much loved paperback copy of Heir of the Empire has been signed by the author, Timothy Zahn). I also enjoyed the scenes with Bendu. He’s a very interesting charter, and voiced by a former Doctor to boot. For me, the best part of the season was getting more Darth Maul. He has had some great character development between here and the Clone Wars series, and I was really hoping ...
TV Review – iZombie Season 2
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the DVD I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own. A few weeks back, I was sent a DVD copy of iZombie Season 2 to watch and review. Picking up three months after the end of season 1, Liv is rekindling romance with Major while Ravie is working on recreating the zombie cure. Blane is human once again, but still causing trouble. Plus, there is an even bigger bad guy than Blaine out there and is spying on everyone via Liv's new roommate. This season certainly didn’t lose any of it steam and was every bit as funny & entertaining as last season. It is a fresh take on zombies and I can’t get enough of it. I missed several episodes during the season, so I really enjoyed the chance to get completely caught up during vacation. Rose McIver is able to slip seamlessly into different characters and any scene with David Anders is just great. I can’t really pick a favorite episode because I like all of ...
Goldie & Bear Review & Giveaway [ENDED]
Goldie & Bear is the newest show that is currently airing on Disney Junior. It picks up where Goldilocks and the Three Bears ended and follows the adventures of best friends Goldie and Bear. They are joined by their friends, who are very familiar fairytale & nursery rhyme characters. The first collection of episodes, titled Best Fairytale Friends, recently released on DVD. It contains 7 full episodes & has a free playtime fun set included as well. My daughter is a huge fan of the show, and was very excited to get a copy of the DVD. It contains her favorite episode Pinocchio-itis. Goldie catches Pinocchio-itis after telling a fib, making her nose grow. The more she fibs, the more it grows...just like Pinocchio. Unfortunately, Bears’ parents need her to distract him so that they can finish building a present for him & have no idea she has it. She has to spend the afternoon fibbing to him and ends up with a 4 foot long nose. Overall, it is a very cute show & my ...
