Last week, I was sent a Camping Cookware Set from Stolevar to test out and review. The set consists of an anodized nonstick pot (with lid) & pan, 2 bowls, folding spoon & fork, soup spoon, bamboo spatula, and a sponge. It’s designed to be lightweight, making it perfect for backpacking or any camping trip. It comes in a nylon drawstring bag. I’ve had many similar sets over the years, and for the most part they were ok. Typical issues I’ve learned to look for are not heating evenly, hot spots, and sticking. So I decided to put these pans to the test using a travel alcohol burner that you would normally use for backpacking or at parks that you can’t have a fires or propane stoves. For testing the pot, I boiled water in it. It heated up quickly and the bubbles were evenly dispersed around the pan, showing that there weren’t any hot spots. The rolling boil was smooth as well. For the pan, I cooked an egg sunny side up. I did use butter in the pan, which started ...

Product Review – Teabook Premium Gift Set
Last week, I was asked to try out the Teabook Premium Gift Set. It comes with a glass tumbler and an assortment of 17 teas. The teas included are White, Green, Red, and Oolong, and a special premium tea. The tumbler is glass and holds up to 12 oz. You can leave the leaves in longer without the tea getting bitter. I love trying out new teas, so this was a treat. The pouches are pre-measured and have the perfect amount for the tumbler, and so far the one’s I’ve tried have all been very good. It’s very high quality. I’m looking forward to trying the special tea that they included. The lid has a strainer in it so that you don’t have to worry about accidentally getting the leaves in your mouth, and also has a seal so that the tea will not leak out. The tumbler itself is insulated, so the tea stays warm for a long time. Since it is glass, you have to be careful where you take it. You definitely don't want to drop it. Overall, it’s a great set that would make the perfect ...
Product Review – Kabob Skewer Rack
A few weeks ago, I was sent a Kabob Skewer Rack from Cave Tools. The rack & skewers are stainless steel and the skewers are able to turn in 8 different positions giving you 360 degrees of rotation. Each skewer is flat, ensuring that the food stays put & doesn’t fall off. There is also a disk/slider that lets you easily remove the meat from the skewers as well. It will fit on any grill, is dishwasher safe, and comes with a 100% money back guarantee. I was very excited to try out the rack. We enjoy barbecuing and haven’t had a kabob rack in a long time. The last one we had literally melted the first time we used it, and never bought another one. The rack is very nice, sturdy, and well made. After giving a quick cleaning, we were ready to test it out. My husband marinated some beef and I set it on the skewers. The meat went on easily and I was able to space it out a little. Once my husband put it on the grill, it didn’t take too long for it to cook. He was able to easily ...
Product Review – Insulated Lunch Bag
Last week, I was sent an Insulated Lunch Bag with adjustable shoulder strap from Sacko to try out and review. The bag has two zippered compartments (the main one & a front pocket), several mesh pockets, and the adjustable strap. I was excited to try this since the handle on my daughter’s school lunch bag broke off. The adjustable strap would make it a lot easier for her to carry it into school. Her other bag had to be clipped to her backpack with a carabiner, which is why the handle tore off. The bag is a good size, and has plenty off room for containers & snacks. I had no problem getting everything into the bag for her lunch. In fact, it ended up looking kind of empty. I think the only issue I have found with it is that it doesn’t seem to have a lot of insulation in it. I normally use a large cold pack in order to keep her drink & sandwich cool, but my daughter said that the bag was kind of warm by the time she ate. It’s not as much of an issue for her since I don’t ...
Food Review – Carmel Crispy Bar
A few days ago, I received this month’s Gourmet Gifter box. It contained 4 new products to try out. As with the first two posts, I will cover two of the times today. Carmel Crispy Bar The Carmel Crispy Bar caught my attention right away, mostly because my daughter ran off with it once she got a look inside the box & saw it. I assumed that it would have some carmel drizzled on top of it. Instead, it’s coated in it. I think it was mixed in with the marshmallows or something, because that’s all you can taste aside from the puffed rice. It was glorious. And it was really, really sweet. I made it through about half of it before I ended up giving the rest to my daughter. She loved it. PurEarth Nutrition Bar Like the Meal Replacement Bar, these are cold pressed and very healthy for you. The flavor is Cherry Chocolate Almond. I personally didn’t care for this one as much. It lost the flavor once I started chewing it, making it really hard to eat. Overall, the Carmel Crispy Bar was ...
Food Review – Colby’s Cinnamon Roll Popcorn
A few days ago, I received this month’s Gourmet Gifter box. It contained 4 new products to try out. As with the first two posts, I will cover two of the times today. Colby’s Cinnamon Roll Popcorn I was excited to get another flavor of Colby’s Kettle Corn. We all enjoyed the Salty Sweat addiction last month, and couldn’t wait to try this one. I thought it was delicious. The cinnamon is not too heavy & not too light. Its goes well with the flavor of the popcorn. My husband wasn’t as crazy about it as he was the previous flavor, but he’s not a bit fan of eating stuff with cinnamon. My daughter liked it, and I had to utilize the refrigerator once again to keep it from her. Butter Toffee Peanuts These tasted every bit as good as they looked. They only have four ingredients, peanuts, sugar, butter & salt, but you would never think it by how they taste. They are full of flavor and I ended up buzzing through half the bag before I realized it. Overall, both of these items were a ...
