Balancing good looks with comfort is a challenge you face as a mom every day when you get dressed, and shoes are often the most difficult piece of the equation. How can you look great when you know you'll be running after kids all day? Obviously you need to avoid blistering pointy toes or back-busting high heels, but finding comfort styles that look great isn't easy. Here are some styles that work well for moms. Ballet Flats The ballet flat with skinny pants is a style that Audrey Hepburn popularized in the 1960s, and it's still a fashionable look. Ballet flats look best paired with cropped, fitted pants or longer skirts. This style varies widely in terms of comfort; look for a pair with well-cushioned soles and good arch support. If you fall in love with a cute pair that don't offer support, buy them roomy and insert a cushioned insole. Sneakers It goes without saying that sneakers are comfy, but stylish? In some cases, yes. Look for simple styles in solid colors or cute prints ...

Interview with John E. Stith
After reading Redshift Rendezvous, which I reviewed a few days ago, I got got the chance to ask the author a few questions. John E. Stith has been writing since the late 70s and had his first novel published in 1984. He has a large body of work, which includes short stories, and has many years of experience navigating the waters of the publishing world. What made you decide to start writing science fiction? Love of reading. The urge didn't hit strongly until I was partway through college, but the desire became stronger every time I finished reading a great book. Deciding to devote fifteen minutes every day made the difference between wanting to write and actually writing. I know several authors and each of them have their own way of writing. When you sit down to write, do you have everything already pre-planned? Or do you just start writing and see where it takes you? I generally do several drafts, but I have an aversion to doing even more, so I want ...
Book Review – Redshift Rendezvous by John E. Stith
Redshift Rendezvous is a science fiction novel by John E. Stith. The Redshift is a technologically advanced vessel capable of traversing the layers of hyperspace. A routine transport becomes derailed after a passenger is found dead and the ship is taken over by hijackers. The hijackers plan to use the ship to steal the wealth of a colony that’s location is only known to a few. Will the crew be able to stop them? The premise was very interesting and the book delivered lots of suspense and action. The characters were well developed and interesting, especially the main character Jason. His background made him a very sympathetic character...and a little intense at times. I would definitely be interested in reading a follow up story about him. The world building was also well done. You got lots of detail without it taking up entire chapters. There were a few spots in the plot that were a bit predictable, but there were more than enough twists to keep it interesting. The twist ...
