Magiforet Blackhead Peel Off Mask

Beauty Review – Magiforet Blackhead Peel Off Mask

July 12, 2017

Last week, I was asked to try out the Magiforet Blackhead Peel Off Mask.  This is a charcoal mask that helps remove blackhead and other dirt from pores.  It also comes with a 5 oz. spray bottle of rose oil to help sooth your skin after peeling off the mask. Have you see those close-up videos on social media of people pulling stuff out of their skin with the masks?  Well, this is that stuff…or at least like it.  I have been curious to see if this works as well as the videos and pics.  I’m happy to say it does. I am also unhappy to say that it’s a bit painful.  Seriously, this is the mask equivalent of duct tape. It was not pleasant to remove, but the paint was worth it. There was all sorts of stuff coming up with the mask.  My only concern is that some of it may have been hair.  If that’s case, then I think I will soon be able to challenge my cousin to an epic beard battle. LOL! To use, first wash your face to remove any oils.  I suggest that you use a hot towel to help open ...

Pigtail Food Flippers from Cave Tools

Product Review – Pigtail Food Flippers from Cave Tools

July 8, 2017

A few weeks back, I was sent a set of Pigtail Food Flippers from Cave Tools to try out and review. Essentially, these are stainless steel hooks that you can use to flip your meat without leaving marks.  This set comes with two flippers, a longer one to use on the grill and a shorter one you can use on the stove. I’ve never used a BBQ hook before, so I was curious about these. They are very sharp and you definitely don’t want to find yourself on the business end of one. It’s easy to use: just hook the meat and flips it. The hook slides in and out very easily. You can use them from just about any meat, though I’m not sure how well they would work with the tubular variety.  The shorter hook can be used with bacon. If you you use it for that, I suggest not using  non-stick pan. I had been hoping to get to test this out a little more and even get a video before posting this. But the Texas summer has hit its stride and we have been having 100+ degree days for some time now. Our ...

Blackhead Tweezers

Beauty Review – Blackhead Tweezers Extractor Travel Tool Kit

June 11, 2017

Two weeks ago, I was asked to try out and review the Blackhead Tweezers Splinter Needle Extractor Travel Tool Kit from Lifestance.  There are two kits available: 2-piece kit with a microfine loop needle and a bend curved tip tweezers, and a 5-piece kit that comes with two addition types of tweezers and an extra microfine loop needle. All the tools are made of surgical grade stainless steel and can be used to quickly  and easily deal with pimples, blackheads, and ingrown hairs.  I received the 5-piece set and it came in a stainless steel travel case.  I'm pretty familiar with the loops since I've used them for a long time to deal with blackheads.  I've seen a ton of videos on Facebook lately showing curved tip tweezers and I was most interested in trying those.  Unfortunately, there were not any instructions on how to use them when I first received the kit...so I had to play around with them.  There is a bit of a how-to guide up on the Amazon ordering page now as I write this, so ...

How to Enjoy Your Vacation

June 6, 2017

Many people plan vacations that they don't end up enjoying due to a variety of factors. Although you may look forward to relaxing in a tropical destination or having a retreat in the woods, it doesn't mean that everything will go according to plan. If you want to enjoy your vacation from beginning to end, there are a few tips to follow. Create a Flexible Itinerary You can easily become stressed or fatigued on a trip if you plan too many activities each day and have a rigid schedule. Create a flexible itinerary that allows you to pick and choose the events that you'll enjoy to avoid doing too much in a short amount of time. Allow your schedule to be flexible to ensure that you can sleep in or lounge on the beach all day if you want to relax. Get a Room with a View The room that you book at your hotel should be luxurious and your home away from home. Book a room at a place like Singer Island Marriott that allows you to enjoy sweeping views of the ocean and landscape outside where you ...

LeWonde Back Plus

Product Review – LeWonde Back Plus

April 26, 2017

Last week, I was sent a LeWonde Back Plus to try out and review.  The Back Plus is a plastic back support designed to help ease back pain.  It can be used in chairs or on the floor paired with exercises.  The plastic arch is adjustable, allowing it to rise to different heights. This looked like a neat product, and I was interested in maybe trying it at work just to see how it would do.  The first thing I noticed taking it out of the box is how hard it is. It is not very flexible at all and I had a heck of a time trying to get the arch set up. One side slides partially out (as seen in the picture) and you can place the arch in the slots.  You then slide the side back, causing the arch to rise.  Sound great in print, but it's not as easy as it sounds.  It took several days of messing with it, and even then I kept thinking it was going to break.  You have to apparently flex and use it a lot before it become flexible enough to do it easily. I personally don’t find it to be all that ...

DreamLifter Tripod

Product Review – 41-inch Telescope Tripod from DreamLifter

March 28, 2017

Last week, I received the 41-inch Telescope Tripod from DreamLifter to test out and review.  The tripod is made from aluminum alloy and can rotate 360 degrees.  It’s lightweight and comes with a phone attachment and a carry bag. I have been looking for a lighter tripod to use for reviews and with my lightbox.  My old one is more heavy duty, and while great for outdoor activities, it’s hard to get my camera screwed onto the base.  The legs also tend to stick when expanding them as well. This tripod is definitely lighter and far easier to set up.  Its smaller size makes it perfect to use on the table for filming reviews, so no more propping my phone up on whatever random item I happen to have at hand.  The smartphone holder is pretty secure as well, allowing me to move the entire tripod without having to worry about the phone falling out. I can also quickly attach my regular camera to it as well.  However, my camera is heavy and I’m worried that it makes the tripod a little too ...
