Guest Article: Mom Knows Best – Taking Care of Yourself When Life Gets Demanding

March 8, 2013

You never know when life will suddenly get so busy that you won’t be able to handle it and become overwhelmed. Instead of feeling guilty about taking time away when situations in life threaten to overwhelm, tell yourself it’s alright and that it’s necessary in order to keep it together. Whether your parents are having health problems, the kids are going through the terrible twos or work is making it impossible to breathe, take a step back and figure out how to make things better. There are simple ways to get your life back on track and then there are more direct approaches, such as leaving a job or getting an occasion nanny. Depending on the situation at hand, make a choice to do something that will improve your lifestyle and stay on track.

Stay Healthy by Taking Your Vitamins–
It may sound simple, but staying healthy when people need you is absolutely important. There are several ways to stay healthy and also prevent yourself from catching a seasonal flu or coming down with a horrible cold. Take your vitamins, get at least thirty minutes of exercise five times a day, and eat meals that will keep you healthy and strong. Order vitamins online and visit here at Sidepon.com to find multivitamins that will help you keep you stay on a healthy track by taking all of the right vitamins on a daily basis.
Take a Mental Health Day Away from Work–
If you have vacation piling up at work but you have yet to use it, it’s okay to use it as a mental health day. Often times you may not be sick, but if you have a baby at home that requires a lot of attention or your in-laws are coming in town and the time spent with them is sometimes overwhelming, take a little break after they leave. Its okay and you’ll feel revitalized after spending as little as a day away from your daily tasks and responsibilities.
Go on a Mini Vaca –
Still need time away from it all? If your parents live in your same city and recently you’ve begun to take care of them more, it’s vital that you take time away from time to time. They may not understand if they’re extra needy, but it’s important that you don’t take it personally. Instead hop on a train or get in the car and get away. You may be surprised, but even something as simple as a day trip will brighten your spirits and help you feel not as overwhelmed. When you return you will have a brighter outlook and will also be able to give one hundred percent to your parents who need you in their older age.
