It has been a very, very long week. On Monday, I went to see the specialist about my knee. Hannah got car sick on the way there and ended up throwing up just as we were about to pull into the parking lot. We had to hurry and get her all cleaned up and the seat clean before we were late for the appointment. Once we got in and I filled out paperwork, Hannah was fussy so Jason took her out in the hall while I was called back for the appointment.
When the assistant/RN guy came in and had me take the brace off, his eyes widened and he asked me how I was even able to walk on it. Not a good sign. Apparently, the MRI place didn’t even look at the MRI at all, because the both the RN guy and the doctor said that there was no way that they didn’t not see the amount of damage to my knee. Somehow or another, the knee cap itself is going way to the right when I’m walking and it’s completely torn out all of the cartilage. He said that it was pretty bad and being that the MRI was taken three months ago and nothing has been done to even remotely help my knee, they can only imagine what it looks like in there now.
So, here’s the lowdown: There is a pretty good chance that I’m going to need surgery to fix it. However, before jumping into that, they want me to try some physical therapy first to see it that can get my knee cap back where it’s supposed to be. If the knee cap gets back in line, then everything s=else should fix itself for the most part. There would have to see how bad the cartilage is. If that doesn’t work, then I’ll be under the knife….then have even more physical therapy.
My physical therapy will start tomorrow, Monday, and I will have it twice a week for the next six weeks. I hoping that it will be enough to fix it.
