Several months back, I posted about two extremely aggressive dogs that been terrorizing the neighborhoods surrounding my parents house in Forney. The dogs stalk up and down the streets, looking for anything small enough to attack. They killed one dog, a little terrier, right in front of it’s owner, and broke through two screen doors to get at my parent’s outdoor cat.
The dogs are not afraid of people at all, and it’s only a matter of time before they get a hold of a person. The owner of the dogs, who lives a few houses away from my parents, has been notified numerous times by both the county police and neighbors. He keeps the dogs a in pen topped with razor wire, so he knows that they are dangerous…yet does nothing when they do get out.
Yesterday, my parents were in laying down when they heard a commotion outside. My dad got up to look, and saw the two dogs in the courtyard: one was attacking their cat while the other was attempting to break through the sliding glass door to go after the inside cat. They ran outside, prepared to shoot them, but the dogs had already taken off. The dogs had once again broken through the two patio doors.
My parents immediately drove over to he owners house and confronted him. He shrugged his shoulders and said “Well…they have to eat”. My dad told him that next time the dogs came into the property he was going to shoot them. My parents then went home and called the police. The county deputy came out, took a statement from them and then went over to the owners’ residence. The dogs had apparently dug a hole under the fence a while back and had been coming a going for some time. The owner was given a ticket and told that if the dogs got out again, they would be put down. He also gave my parents permission to shoot them if they come onto the property again. The dogs were still running loose after the deputy left, and apparently attacked someone’s dog up the street. The owner made no attempt to call them home.
The really annoying part about this is that it all could have been taken care of months ago had Forney Animal Control come out. Animal Control has repeatedly refused to come, stating that the neighborhoods are outside city limits. The law states that since there isn’t a county Animal Control, it is the responsibility of the nearest City Animal Control to come out…especially in the case of dangerous animals.
Hopefully, if the dogs wander up past the Middle School, Animal Control will pick them up. If not…I don’t know what will happen. I just hope that no one gets hurt.
