I participated in Kimberly Michelle's 'Make It Yourself" Gift Exchange this year. I always love making homemade crafts for Christmas, so I jumped at the chance to participate in this. The exchange was run through Elfster, which is a pretty neat site. Anyway, here is the gift I made:I picked a few unfinshed ornaments at Hobby Lobby, all of which were under $1 each (I love their 50-75% off Christmas sale). I already had most of the paints since I try to make a few of these each year, but I needed the browns and also grabbed the Christmas red and green. It took about three coats of paint in each color to get the ornament covered without any white bleedthrough. Once the paint was dry, I sprayed the front and back with Krylon UV-Resistan Clear Matte Acrylic Coating to seal it. Overall, I'm really happy with how well it came out, considering how messed up my hand has been. Some of the black lines are a little shakey . . . but I'm not too worried about it. I mailed this one out a few ...

OMG…she’s chewing on the wall!
Okay...I have a bit of a problem with Hannah. After she started teething, she started going 'beaver' on her crib. After nearly having a panic attack, I discovered that beaver behavior among babies is common. What I found surprising was that no one has really come up with an effect rail cover...but that's neither here or there. I assumed that she would grow out of it once all her teeth came in. I was wrong. She quickly began to chew on everything, from shoes to books. Thankfully, that behavior seems to have waned, but now has been replaced by something worse: wall chewing.Yes...wall chewing. After I covered up all her chewing spots on the crib, she began chewing the texture off the wall. I've resorted to pulling the crib about 6 inches away from the wall when she's in it, but she's going to be moving to a toddler bed soon. Then she will have free access to gnaw to her harts content. Has anyone else had to deal with this before? How in the heck do I get her to stop? ...
Happy Veterans Day
My grandfather, Reah H. Walker, was a teenager when he was drafted into the Army during WW2. He lived on a farm in rural Tennessee, and I don't think he had ever been outside his county, let alone the US. He was in every major battle, including D-Day. During one battle, he crossed repeatedly back over enemy lines to retrieve wounded men and get him to safety. These actions earned him the Bronze Star. He was a hero, but always played it off. "They handed those things out to everybody," he always said.To all those who have severed, thank you for your service. ...
