Last week, I was sent a 10 cup ZeroWater Pitcher. ZeroWater pitchers come with a 5-Stage Dual Ion-Exchange filter that removes almost all solids from your water. This gives it a TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) reading of 000, making it the purest water you will find. I have wanted to try one of these for a long time. The water in our town used to taste pretty good until works broke a water main pipe a few years back. Since then, it has been virtually undrinkable. We still cook with it, but we drink bottled water. According to the ZeroWater website, the average TDS reading in our area is 233. It’s not bad, but it’s not good either. When I received my pitcher, the first thing I did was use the included TDS reader to test my tap water. I put some in a glass and got 129. That’s better than what the site said, but still icky. Next, I tested my bottled Ozarka water. I figured that it would be maybe a three or a four max, since it’s supposed to be filtered and ‘natural ...
Very busy weekend…
I'm so sorry about the lack of updates this weekend. Jason's new work schedual has thrown eveything out of wack and he's only just gotten back to 100% after being sick. We've been trying to get stuff done outside, but ended up getitng put off until today due to the rain. However, my knee has gotten a lot worse and it's getting to the point that I can't really move around a whole lot...even with the brace on. I'm going to head back up to the Emergency Clinic this afternoon to get it x-rayed. Hopefully, they will be able to tell me what is going on with it.Since I still have a little bit before I have to leave, I'm going to try to get some stuff up. There will be a new giveaway starting today, with 2 winners. ...
Product Review – Clarisonic Pro
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Mom Blog Society. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. Last week, I was sent a Clarisonic Pro Starter Kit. The Clarisonic Pro is the premiere skin care tool. It’s use by dermatologists at their own clinics. It can be used on both your face and body, and also has additional head attachments (sold separately) that are specifically designed for varying types of skin. The extra heads are the acne brush, body brush, deep pore cleaning brush, and the sensitive brush. The Clarisonic Pro has four built in speeds (low, normal, high, pro), plus a body mode which switches on only when you use the body brush head. All units come with a charger. The battery life is 30 minutes with all facial brush heads, and 20 minutes with the body brush head. The starter kit I received came with the sensitive brush and three trial size samples of different ...
Product Review – Skillet Bacon Jam
I’ve tested many items in the two years that I’ve been publishing this blog. I’ve tested various food products, but nothing prepared me for Skillit Bacon Jam. According to their website, bacon is mixed with several other spices and then “rendered” down into their spread. The company started as a street vendor in Washington State, and has since branched out into a dinner and selling their spreads online & in some stores. Now, I love bacon and I would eat it with just about everything if I could. I’ve seen this listed for review on Tomoson for a long time, and finally allowed morbid curiosity to win out. I was hoping for, at best, something delicious that we could all enjoy. That wasn’t what I got . . . not by a long-shot. First of all, I would like to say that the picture of the container on Tomoson is quite nice. In fact, it’s the picture that I used above. Incidentally, they do not show you the actual bacon spread. There is good reason for that, apparently. The thing ...
Oh, what a day….
Well, it's definetly shaping up to be one of those days. Jason's shift got switched to overnights, and last night was his first night. He came home around 10 this morning making a bee-line to the bathroom. He got the stomach virus that is going around. He's got stuff coming out of both ends, and can't keep any food down. I sent Hannah off to my parents so that she's not running a risk of catching it. I plan on hosing everything down with bleach after Jason goes in to work tonight...if he goes. If not, she will spend the night with my parents. And meanwhile, I'll be praying to all the available Gods not to catch it myself. ...
Product Review – Novica
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Mom Blog Society Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. A few weeks ago, I was asked to check out Novica. Novica works in association with the National Geographic Society to bring you unique, handcrafted items from around the world. They carry a huge selection of items that you will most likely not find anywhere else, including jewelry like Jade Necklaces , Amethyst Dangle Earrings & Wrap Bracelets. You can also find handmade clothing like WoolShawls, Alpaca Wool Sweaters, Women's Cardigan Sweaters, & Women's Cardigan Sweaters. . . plus household items and much more. I was given a gift certificate to purchase anything that I wanted on the site. At first, I figured that I wouldn’t be able to get much since many of the products offered on the site are somewhat expensive (I didn’t find anything under $14). Plus, many businesses don’t ...
