Last week, I was sent a bottle of COPPERTONE® CLEARLYSheer™ Sunny Days sunscreen, along with a few travel tubes of it as well. COPPERTONE® is a well known name in sun care products and has been around for a long time. We took our daughter to her first MLB game a few days ago (Sunday), and decided that it would be the perfect time to test it out. We put some on before leaving the house, and took the trial size tubes with us so we could reapply if needed. From the moment we first took our seats, I could feel my skin burning. I kept reapplying the sunscreen, but it only served to make the sunburn worse. I even went inside several times just to get out of the sun for a bit. Meanwhile, my daughter wasn't burning at all. In fact, she wasn't even red. We were at the park about 6 hours. By the time we got home, the only red on my daughter was the very tips of her ears where I didn't put anything. My husbands arms were a little red, & he didn't put on any sunscreen. I, on the ...
Dapper Snapper Review & Giveaway [ENDED]
Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial. Two weeks ago, I was sent a Dapper Snapper for my daughter to use. It’s a half belt that loops in the three back loops of pants/shorts/skirts to help keep them from falling down. You can adjust them, and they fit ages 9 months to 6 years old. My daughter is between sizes, and even then it varies depending on the clothing brand. Many of the pants and shorts I’ve picked up for her are way too loose even with tightening the build in elastic adjusters. This resulted in a few near public ‘wardrobe malfuntions’. The belt goes on quickly & easily. I left it on the outermost snaps so that her shorts weren’t too tight. She is able to still pull everything up and down as needed. Her denim shorts are a little harder to pull back up & the material does bulge a little in the back, but I’ll take that over stuff falling off every few minutes. Also, after two weeks of a lot of playing and a trip to the ballpark to see the ...
Assorted Updates and News
Things have been busy around here lately. I'm still elbow deep in reviews, which I should be working on tonight but I'm beat. We went to the Rangers game yesterday & I got sunburned really bad even though I was wearing sunscreen. My daughter was wearing the same stuff I was and the only red on her is on the tips of her ears. My arms and shoulders aren't too bad, by my legs look awful. It hurts every time I get up and walk around. So, I've gotten nothing done today aside from limping around Walmart. I've got a few posts almost ready to go, so I'll get them up tomorrow. The main reason I'm so behind is that I've had several design commissions come in rapid succession. Up until this point, I haven't gotten a lot but now my business is picking up. It's really hard to judge when I'll get commission work & when I do get them they are very time consuming, so I think I'm going to start cutting back the amount of reviews I take in a month. The reviews have really taken over ...
Product Review – Pimsleur Spanish 1
Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial. Last week, I was sent Pimsleur Spanish 1. Pimsleur is one of the most popular language learning courses. There is no software, just 30 minute audio lessons that each how to hold conversations. The Spanish 1 set has 16 discs with 30 lessons. You listen to one lesson a day and participate with the audio. In high school, I only had on good Spanish teacher. She didn’t use the textbooks, with are usually geared toward proper Spanish that is used in Spain. Instead, she gave use a crash course in ‘kindergarden’ (ABC’s & basic sentence structure), and then pretty much used Spanish for the majority of the classes after that. Doing that got us used to hearing it and memorizing all of the conjugations. It was like we had been dropped off in the middle of Mexico and left to fend for ourselves…which was how she learned as an exchange student herself in college. The Pimsleur course does that exact same thing. So far, it’s been ...

The SOI Candle Review & Giveaway [ENDED]
Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial. Two weeks ago, I was sent a SOI Candle. SOI Candles are made of kosher soy oil, making them burn cleaners then regular paraffin wax candles. The wax stays cool to the touch, so you don’t have to worry about little ones getting burned. In fact, you can use the melted wax as a skin moisturizer. The candle I was sent is a Luxe Highball Candle (13.5 oz) in Manderin Ginger. You could smell the scent outside of the box right away. It was noticeable, but not what I would consider strong or overpowering. It was pleasant and different from any candles I’ve had before. Once lit, the scent spread around the room. After a while I poured a bit of the oil out. It didn’t even feel warm. I ended up using it on my elbows, and it left my skin nice and soft. Overall, I really like the candle. The scent is pleasant, and I love that you can use the wax as a moisturizer. They have several sizes of candles available. The Highball I received ...
