Product Review – Slice Safety Cutter

November 29, 2011

A few weeks ago, I was sent a Slice™ SafetyCutter - Great for Couponers.  The Slice is a small, hand-held tool that is a safe replacement for siccsors.  The Slice has a small ciramic blade that never gets dull, and will not cut your skin.  It easily cuts through paper, plastic packaging, tape, and more. I've heard about the Slice for years and had always wanted to try one, but I've never really seen it in stores.  I'll tell you, it was worth the wait!  This is the greatest thing ever!  Since I've been having trouble with my hand, there have been days where using scissors is nearly impossible.  With the Slice, I don't have to worry about putting pressure on my thumb or aggravating the joint.  You just hold between two fingers and lightly pull it along whatever you are cutting. You don't have to press down hard at all for most stuff . . . it's like a knife going through butter.  Just make sure that you don't have anything under it that you don't want cut.  The first few times I ...

Book Review – Healthy Eating for Kids Recipe Book

November 24, 2011

Last week, I was sent a copy of the Healthy Eating for Kids recipe book.  The book contains 60 recipes that are quick to make and healthy for your kids to eat.  There are a large variety of snacks, meals and drinks to choose from, all of which are small portions and contain various nutrients that are normally hard to fit into your child's diet. All of the recipes are very simple to make, and most only take a few minutes to make.  They are also easy enough that children can help prepare them as well.  There are a few recipes that will require you to go out of your way to find some ingredients, but, for the most part, you will probably have the ingredients for the simpler recipes either on hand or easily found at the grocery store.  There are several snacks that sound very good, and I'm looking forward to making.  However, there are several the really don't look all the appetizing to me. Overall, the recipe book isn't too bad.  It's worth checking out if your interested in making ...

UGLee Pen Review and Giveaway [ENDED]

November 18, 2011

A few weeks ago, I was sent a set of three UGLee pens. UGLee pens were created by a doctor to have the best, most comfortable grip available on a ergonomic pen. They also have the smoothest ink system, and the pen is extremely light. I had figured on this pen being more of a gimmick than anything else, but I was surprised at how comfortable it was to use. I have been having ongoing problems in my right hand for some months now, which has made holding anything small either very painful and nearly impossible. We have several different pens floating around the house, each with various grips on them. All of them have been increasingly uncomfortable for me to write with. As I mentioned above, I figured the UGLee pen would be the same and almost dreaded trying it out. I was very surprised at how nice it was. The grip is perfect size to rest between my fingers without me having to really hold onto it. It's very light and you don't have to press down too much to get the ink to come out. ...

Book Review – Best Left Burried

November 17, 2011

Best Left Buried is an e-book by first time author Cindy Hutchins. It's a mystery/horror story that takes place in North Carolina. Arliss can't remember much about her life before she was taken from her mother and adopted. After being notified of her mothers death some twenty years later, she finds herself thrust into a strange mystery. She's the focus of a local legend, birds are following her everywhere, and a crazy preacher is after her. Will she find answers to what is going on, or will she find that the past is best left buried? The story description really caught my interest, and I was really looking forward to reading the book. However, I was really let down. The plot is there and the general idea of the story is great, but the writing just kills it. The story is peppered with punctuation errors, run-on sentences, and fragmented sentences. It caused the flow of the reading to be interrupted and yank me completely out of the story. Also, there were no chapters aside from ...

Product Review – Heelys

November 15, 2011

I was recently sent a pair of Heelys to test out. Heelys are shoes that you can add wheels to so that you can skate. They have been around for several years, and are extremely popular. You can pick between two wheels, for beginners, or a single wheel. I picked a pair with two wheels, being that you have better stability with them. When you first get the shoes, the wheels are not attached. You have to use the enclosed removal tool to removed the Sole Saver plugs. Once the plugs are removed, you can insert the wheels. Make sure that you save the plugs, since you can put them back in if you remove one wheel later on. The wheels pop in fairly easily, but you do need to give them a strong whack. Who can guess what naughty word I was saying? Now comes the hard part . . . keeping from falling on your butt. Like roller blades and skateboards, you need to wear protective gear at all times. Just because they are technically shoes doesn't mean you won't fall. Trust ...

UPrinting Die-cut Business Cards Review and Giveaway [ENDED]

November 4, 2011

UPrinting.com offers various printing solutions that are very affordable.  I was recently invited to try out their die-cut business cards.  You can pick from a variety of cut shapes and paper types.  There is a 6 business day turnaround time and free shipping in the US only. I found the process of creating the cards to be fun.  I will warn you that they do not have templates like other sites do.  You need to have a fairly good idea of what you want ahead of time before you start.  I decided that I would make cards for my photography and design site, GO Studios.  They had a large assortment of stock images, should you need them, starting at $1 each.  I ended up making a quick logo on my computer and uploading it to the design app.  From there, I started typing in my information . . . which only took a few minutes.  Once I had everything the way I wanted, I submitted the card and proceded to checkout. About 2 days later, UPrinting.com called to verify the order and to tell me that ...
