A few weeks back, I was sent an extra-large picnic blanket with waterproof backing from Pratico Outdoors to try out and review. The blanket is 60 in by 80 in and easily folds down to the size of a purse. The one I received was blue & white. We do a lot of outside activities & take at least one trip to the beach each year, so I was very excited to try this out. The first time I spread it all the way out, I was really surprised at how big it was. It’s huge! My husband, daughter & I were able to sit on it with lots of room left over. We could have easily had a few more people sit on it with us. It is pretty soft & comfortable too. It also folds up very small and has a carry handle, you can take it anywhere. What I like most is the backing. It’s waterproof and it helps keep the dirt and leaves form sticking to/through the blanket. It’s especially nice to have at the beach this week since we can sit on it and not get all sandy. Overall, it’s a great item that you ...

Product Review – All Natural Shoe Odor Eliminator
A few weeks ago, I was asked to try out the All Natural Shoe Odor Eliminator from Amare Terra. It’s made from all natural ingredients & has a lemon mint scent. The company has a 100% satisfaction guarantee or you’ll get your money back. They also donate 9% of each purchase to build clean water wells. I’ll admit that my tennis shoes stink, especially after running around in them all day in the Texas heat. I used to use odor fighting powder & insoles, but gave up in them long ago because they never really worked. I was curious about the spray to see if it worked, but I didn’t really expect it to. However, I was pretty surprised at the results. I just got a new pair of shoes, so I decided to test the spray out on my old pair. I used two sprays in each shoe: one aimed down into the toe end & one aimed at the heal end. You can smell the lemon and mint right away, and it’s very pleasant while not being overpowering. It definitely covered the smell, but I did notice that ...
Product Review – Dr. Frederick’s Original Bunion Pad & Spacer Kit
A few weeks back, I was asked to try out and review Dr. Frederick's Original Bunion Pad & Spacer Kit. The kit comes with 4 pairs of cushions; the Standard Shield Spacer, Standard Spacer, Sport Shield Spacer, & the Sport Spacer. They are made from super soft flexible gel & go between your big toe and the second toe. Each set comes in its own resalable bag & comes with a card that tells you what each set is and pics to show you how to wear them. All of them can be worn with or without shoes, and the double looped spaces are designed to keep the spaces from slipping while you’re running. I’ve tried all of them on and they are very soft & comfortable to wear. It takes a little while to get used to wearing them. My left foot doesn’t really need to shield, but needs the spacer since my toes are more squished together than they should be…so I wear the standard spacer or sport spacer. My right foot doesn’t need the spacer as much as the shield, so I usually switch ...
Book Review – Courage and Other Demons by Jill Daugherty
Courage and Other Demons by Jill Daugherty is a young-adult urban fantasy, & is the first book in a series. Maggie O’Neill is just a regular girl living in the suburbs of Denver, until Simon Brady moves to town from Ireland. He’s nice, funny, and handsome. He excites her in a way no one ever has. He’s also a faery (something that Maggie has believed only exists in kids’ books) & his world brings danger not just to Maggie, but every human on Earth. As her world is turned upside down, Maggie has a choice to make: fight to save everyone or be killed. When I was first contacted about reviewing this book, I thought it was a very interesting premise and was eager to read the book. I was not disappointed. The story is very well written, flows well, and the characters are well rounded & developed well through the story. The fantasy is woven in perfectly & doesn’t feel forced. Maggie’s character is very believable to me and reacted the way anybody would when tossed into ...

Product Review – Ecooda & KastKing Products
A few days ago, I was also to try out and review several products from Ecooda & KastKing. Both carry a wide range of fishing gear. I was also to pick out several spools of fishing line, as well as a baitcasting reel. Ecooda Tiro Pro Series Caster Round Baitcasting Reel I got the Tiro-50A Right Handed. It really looks like one of the reel that Jeremy Wade uses on River Monsters, which I think is really cool. This is my first time using a baitcasting reel, and I wasn’t too sure how hard it was going to be to use. It’s relatively the same as a boat reel, which I’ve used many times when deep sea fishing, but smaller & you can cast it out. The reel itself is very nice & very high quality. It’s fairly easy to get the line attached and loaded. It held a good amount of 8lb test, which is perfect for all types of fishing. It took me a little while to get the hang of casting it without getting any backlash. It casts & reels in smoothly. My dad spent a better part of ...
