PurEarth Meal Replacement Bar

Food Review – PurEarth Meal Replacement Bar

August 18, 2015

A few days ago, I cover two of the items I received in the Gourment Gifter box. Today I’ll cover the other two. PurEarth Meal Replacement Bar PurEarth bars are cold pressed bars. They are vegetarian and have a balanced combination of gluten-free seeds, grains, plant-based proteins, fiber, fruit, and much more. They can replace a whole meal, or just be a snack. I received a pineapple flavored bar. It wasn’t bad. I thought it was a little hard to chew, mostly because it feels thick once it’s in your mouth (that’s the best way I can describe it). The taste was good, and I would love to see what other flavors they come out with. Chili Cheese Corn Puffs I thought these were very good. There is a hint of spice from the chili that goes well with the cheese. My daughter liked them too, but didn’t eat a whole lot of them because of the chili flavor (she was more interested in getting more of the popcorn). Overall, both food items were very good. The meal replacement bar is available ...

Food Review – Colby’s Kettle Corn

August 16, 2015

A week or so ago, I was sent a Gourmet Gifter box. Gourmet Gifter lets you put together gift baskets featuring chocolates, sweets, healthy snacks, and more. The box I received contains 4 items. Today, I’ll cover two of the times: Colby’s Kettle Corn Salty Sweet Addiction & the Peanut Brittle. Salty Sweet Addiction I love kettle corn, and this was some of the best I’ve had. Colby’s Kettle Corn is 100% all natural, gluten free, low calorie, low in sodium, and is a great source of fiber. It also has no trans-fat, cholesterol, preservative, and MSG. It also tastes great too. It’s sweet, but not overly so, giving a perfect balance between the corn taste & the sweet. Another big plus on this is that the kettle corn is also hand sifted, ensuring that there are no kernels in the bags. It really did not last long. My husband got into it when he got home from work & probably ate nearly half of it. My daughter loves it too. It had to hide up on top of the refrigerator in order to ...

Food Review – Silk Yogurt

August 11, 2015

A few weeks ago, I was asked to try out the new Silk Yogurt. It’s made with almond milk, making it safe for people who are lactose intolerant or just want to avoid milk. I love the taste of Silk Almond Milk, and get a lot to make lattes & smoothies. When I heard that they were making a yogurt, I was very excited to try it. First, I want to note that I had a hard time finding a store that had this. A lot of stores aren’t carrying it yet, so I had to really drive around to find some. The Walmart in the next town over got it in after about 2 to 3 weeks of looking. I picked up the strawberry flavor. The first thing I noticed was that it was very runny...not all that different from drinkable yogurt. I wasn't expecting that, but it didn't turn me off. At first, the taste was good. You could really taste the strawberry in it, which I liked. However, after the first few bites I started getting a horrible aftertaste, which totally ruined it for me. I ended up not being able to finish ...

Product Review – SLIMQUICK Pure Protein Powder

July 3, 2015

A few weeks ago, I was asked to try out and review SLIMQUICK Pure Protein Powder. SLIMQUICK has a variety of protein powders, drink mixes, capsules, and gummies. The protein powder is made with BioPure Green TeaTM , a natural extract that helps women loose three times the weight versus dieting alone, and gives you 20 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber per day. It is available in two flavors; Double Chocolate and French Vanilla. I was sent a canister of French Vanilla, which has 11.5 ounces of product in it. To use, you simply mix one scoop of power in 4 ounces of water & then mix. You drink it twice a day; once in the morning and the second 6 hours later. Each canister contains 15 servings, giving you enough for about a week if you take it the recommended twice daily. I’ve been taking it once daily, mostly because I end up getting the first drink so late in the morning that I’d end up taking the second at dinner. I also mix mine in milk. I found that mixing it in the water ...

FitTea Review

June 23, 2015

Two weeks ago, I was sent a bag of FitTea 28 Day Detox to try out and review. FitTea is an all-natural way to detox. It’s designed to give you energy, boot your metabolism, aid in digestive health, and naturally boost weight-loss in problem areas. It will also help suppress your appetite. Their slogan is "Give us a few weeks and we'll give you a new waistline". I’ve struggled with weight and fluid gain since having my daughter, so I’m always eager to try out products that help with those issues. Some products I’ve tried in the past have worked to a point & others not at all. I was interested in trying FitTea since it seemed like a different approach when compared to the others I’ve tried before. There are no pills to take, no need to change your diet, or so some sort of crazy workout routine. It’s just tea…and I really like tea (in case no one has noticed yet). One bag comes with 28 individual tea bags. The bags are kind of a sheer mesh and are filled about half way with the ...

Product Review – SmarterBaking Non-Stick Silicone Baking Mat

May 27, 2015

A few weeks ago, I was sent a SmarterBaking Non-Stick Silicone Baking Mat to test out and review. The baking mat is 16 5/8 x 11 inches (half-sheet size) and can be used in a wide temperature range (-40 to 480 degrees F). You can put any food item on it, be it cookies or meat, and nothing will stick to it. I have never used a silicone baking mat before. I typically bathe my cookies sheets in non-stick spray, and pretty much hope for the best. The majority of the time, the edges are burned and the cookies still stick. I wasn’t entirely sure how the mat would work, but figures that any improvement, however slight, would be great. I gave the baking mat a quick wash before using it the first time. I made 2 dozen chocolate chip cookies (2 batches of 12). I preheated and baked as normal, and then readied myself to see if the cookies would stick or not. Once I pulled the cookies out, I let them cool for a minute or two. To my amazement, the cookies came right off. I able to slide them ...
