The Harvest is a science fiction novel by Clint Morey. Mutants are bred for the sole purpose of organ donating. They are nearly impossible to tell apart from humans, and spent their entire lives in harvesting facilities. When the mutants at one facility break out and attack the nearby town, chaos breaks out. A cop, Cody, and a defected mutant, Steph, must come together in order to survive the night. The story was very well written and had very well-rounded characters. While the overall concept of ‘clones for parts’ have been done before in the past (see Parts: The Clonus Horror or The Island), the take on this was refreshing. The mutants age quickly over the course of 10 years and when they are harvested, everything is taken…not just one or two things. This makes the opening chapter even more dramatic since you are seeing a harvesting first hand. The overall focus of the story is the moral aspects regarding the use of the mutants. From the very start, the mutants are ...

Book Review – 2:32 AM by Emily Ford
2:32 AM is the debut novel by young adult author Emily Ford. The story is about a teenager named Cat, who has been picked to carry of the legacy of a 700 year-old Djinn (genie). As she finds herself thrust into the world of genies, she has to deal with both her normal life & the ramifications of what her very long future holds.I was very excited to be asked to review this book, since the general storyline is different from much of what is available for young adults today. My sister-in-law is in middle school and you wouldn’t believe how hard it is to find books for her that doesn’t have rampant sex, violence & language in them. It is even harder to find something that isn’t a Twilightknockoff. As I have mentioned in past book reviews, I am by no means a professional author. Aside from product reviews, some poetry & a newspaper article, I have never been published. I greatly admire anyone who is able to get an entire novel written out. It can be a very long and difficult ...
Book Review – The Unfinished by Patrice Williams-Marks
The Unfinished is a short story ebook by Patrice Williams-Marks. Set in the future, that story is about an Unfinished (murdered) who is brought back to put his killer behind bars…he believes. The overall style of the story is 40s detective noir, and it works exceptionally well. The story is short and to the point, and you really get a feel for the man as he remembers his life. He’s very sympathetic, which makes the ending all the more shocking with its brilliantly laid out twist.Overall, it was a fantastic read and I highly recommend it. It would definetly make a great Christms present for any avaid reader. It’s available on Amazonfor $2.99 and several other ebook sites, plus Mrs. Williams-Marks will be writing a sequel called The Unfinished 2.I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. ...
Book Review – When Shadows Fall by L. Ron Hubbard
In When Shadows Fall, by L. Ron Hubbard, we get a startling glimpse of a future where Earth is depleted of its resources and what’s let if its inhabitants are in desperate need of help in order to survive. The fate of everyone lies in the hands of three aging commanders as they desperately comb the cosmos for help from colonial civilizations. I really, really liked this story. It’s fairly short, with no chapters, and is very vivid. You can really get a sense of the hopelessness of the situation and everyone’s frustration when they believe that their last efforts were all for not. There are two other stories included with this one, Tough Old Man & Battling Bolto. Though Old Man is a very enjoyable tale of human endurance and has quite the funny ending. Battling Bolto is the absolutely hilarious story of a con-man and is sure to please everyone with its plot twist. Overall, I loved this book. All three stories are excellent, and the audio book was great too. Both the book & ...
Book Review – The Professor Was a Thief by L. Ron Hubbard
Back in the 30s and 40s, pulp fiction published everything from romance to westerns to sci-fi. L. Ron Hubbard was one of the most influential of these authors and has since become one of the most well know. Most of his works were published during this time, years before he wrote Scientology. Galaxy Press is working on re-releasing all of is Golden Age work. The Professor Was a Thief tells the story of senior reporter Pop as he works to get the story of a lifetime in order to save his job. I absolutely love reading all the old pulp fiction stuff. While the story is a short story, it does have a few chapters. It was very well written & engaging, and didn’t take me too long to read. I was suprised that it was also a bit funny too. The book also included Battle of Wizards and The Dangerous Dimension. These stories were also good, but I thought that Professor was the best. I was also sent a copy of the audio book too. We listened to it in the car and my daughter really seemed to ...

Danger’s Kiss is a romantic thriller/mystery by awared-winning author Christine Michels. Kim Tannas hates her home town. When she was a kid, her father was murdered and more recently, her husband was killed in the line of duty. Now she is forced to return to face her own demons when her cousin is brutally murdered in what appears to be a random crime. However, Sheriff Vaughn Garrett suspects that it’s the work of a serial killer, and Kim quickly finds herself to be the next target. The story was very well written and was an enjoyable read. All of the characters are fully developed and apeal to the reader. The plot moved along at a great pace and it has an unexpected twist at the end. Now, I knew that there were going to be romance scenes in it, and I expected to run across them right away. There are several scenes where the sexual tension is building between Kim and Vaughn, and I kept expecting something to happen. Just when I had given up and figured that nothing would happen ...
