A Monster Calls

A Monster Calls Promo Poster

June 16, 2016

Focus Features will release A MONSTER CALLS nationwide on October 21, 2016.  It's directed by J.A. Bayona (“The Impossible,” “The Orphanage”), and written by Patrick Ness, based on his novel A Monster Calls.  The movie stars Sigourney Weaver, Felicity Jones, Toby Kebbell, Lewis MacDougall, and Liam Neeson. A visually spectacular drama from director J.A. Bayona (“The Impossible”). 12-year-old Conor (Lewis MacDougall), dealing with his mother’s (Felicity Jones) illness, a less-than-sympathetic grandmother (Sigourney Weaver), and bullying classmates, finds a most unlikely ally when a Monster appears at his bedroom window. Ancient, wild, and relentless, the Monster guides Conor on a journey of courage, faith, and truth. Toby Kebbell plays Conor’s father, and Liam Neeson stars in performance-capture and voiceover as the nocturnally visiting Monster of the title. It has been given a PG-13 rating. Universal Brow Pencil

Product Review – Universal Brow Pencil

June 14, 2016

Last week, I was sent a Universal Brow Pencil from Billion Dollar Brows.  The Universal Brow Pencil has been a top seller for over 10 years.  The pencil is self-sharpening and has a spooly brush on the end.  It has a smooth and natural finish, and easily blends in with your brows. My brows are nearly nonexistent in several spots, and going white in others.  It really bothers me because I think my eyebrows look bad.  I have used eyebrow pencils in the past & powders in the past, but you can tell that that’s what you used.  It doesn’t look natural at all.  I was interested in try this out to see if it was better. The first time I used it, I was sitting in the car waiting for my daughter to get out of school.  This was the day I received it in the mail.  I put it on kinda quick just to see what it looked like, and I was very surprised with the results.  It really does look natural.  It filled in everything nicely, and I was able to blend it in almost perfectly with the ...

Product Review – Heavy Duty Car Trunk Organizer

June 14, 2016

Last week, I was asked to check out the Heavy Duty Car Trunk Organizer by LK Baby.  The organizer designed to be durable and won’t slip or slide in your vehicle.  It folds up to be compact and has multiple pockets and 2 elastic straps. I’ve has several organizers in the past.  None of them have ever been all that great, and I even had one partially melt due to the summer Texas heat.  This organizer, though, is very well made.  It comes folded up.  All you need to do is unclip each side and stretch it up.  There are two main compartments, and each of them has a hard bottom that you press down into place. (See my video review below for a demo.)  These pieces are attached to the organizer so you don’t have to worry about losing them.  There are two main pockets on the outside, and 10 smaller mesh ones inside. The material is sturdy and will last a long time, even in hot summers.  While it’s not overly large, it’s got a ton of pockets and can hold quite a bit.  It’s rated to be able ...

Teabook

Product Review – Teabook Premium Gift Set

June 9, 2016

Last week, I was asked to try out the Teabook Premium Gift Set.  It comes with a glass tumbler and an assortment of 17 teas.  The teas included are White, Green, Red, and Oolong, and a special premium tea.  The tumbler is glass and holds up to 12 oz.  You can leave the leaves in longer without the tea getting bitter. I love trying out new teas, so this was a treat.  The pouches are pre-measured and have the perfect amount for the tumbler, and so far the one’s I’ve tried have all been very good.  It’s very high quality.  I’m looking forward to trying the special tea that they included. The lid has a strainer in it so that you don’t have to worry about accidentally getting the leaves in your mouth, and also has a seal so that the tea will not leak out.  The tumbler itself is insulated, so the tea stays warm for a long time.  Since it is glass, you have to be careful where you take it.  You definitely don't want to drop it. Overall, it’s a great set that would make the perfect ...

Bento Lunch Box Set

Product Review – Bento Lunch Box Set

June 8, 2016

Last week, I was sent a set of 6 3-compartment Bento Lunch Box to try out and review.  The boxes are dishwasher & microwave safe, and is able to be used for potion control.  They are made from FDA-approved, high-quality polypropylene #5 plastic.  There is also no BPA, PVC, or phthalates in them, plus they come with a lifetime guarantee. The containers are very nice, and they have multiple color lids so you can keep everyone’s lunches straight.  Each section holds a different amount; ½ cup, 1 cup, and 3 cups.  You can easily place a sandwich in there with some additional snacks. The lid covers over each section; but they are not leak proof.  You do not want to put anything remotely liquid or runny in it.  I would be leery of putting them in a cooler with ice too.  Also, the lids are not very secure due to them being easy open for kids, so if you have something heavy in them (like carrots), you run the risk of the lid coming off if it gets turned upside down.  These are also ...

The JORD Watch Gift Card Giveaway

June 6, 2016

Last week, I reviewed JORD Watches.  I received a beautiful watch, the Sully in Red Sandalwood & Maple.  It is simply stunning.  The watch is completely wooden, excepted for the internal clock parts and the metal clasp.  The clasp is hidden so that you don’t see it at all unless you release it to take the watch off.  I've gotten a ton of comments on it.  People think it’s beautiful and different.  They are very surprised to see that it’s entirely make of wood.  I love it.  It’s a mix of classy, elegant, and modern.  I haven’t found an outfit yet that it doesn’t go with. You can check out my full review here. The Giveaway JORD wants to give a few lucky readers gift cards to put toward buying a JORD watch.  There is one $75 voucher, and 100 $20 e-gift cards up for grabs.  This giveaway is being hosted directly by JORD, so you'll need to visit their giveaway page to enter.  The giveaway ends July 3rd.
