TV Review – Star Wars Rebels Season 3

August 26, 2017

Taking place 6 months after the end of the second season, Star Wars Rebels Season 3 picks up Ezra leading a rescue mission and Kanan struggling with his blindness. Maul is still lurking about and a new foe, Admiral Thrawn, has entered the stage. Will the crew of the Ghost continue to prevail against the Empire? What does the future hold in store for them?

Star Wars Rebels Season 3Season 3 of Rebels was excellent, and it masterfully set up the final season as well. I was very happy to see Admiral Thrawn brought into cannon. The Thrawn Trillogy of the Legends Universe (formerly the Expanded Universe) was one of the best written (my much loved paperback copy of Heir of the Empire has been signed by the author, Timothy Zahn). I also enjoyed the scenes with Bendu. He’s a very interesting charter, and voiced by a former Doctor to boot.

For me, the best part of the season was getting more Darth Maul. He has had some great character development between here and the Clone Wars series, and I was really hoping there would be a possibility of him popping back up in the movies. While the conclusion of his story was fitting, I am a little disappointed. I think they could have been able to do more with him.

Overall, this is still a wonderful series and has kept getting better. I am very eager to see how it all ends in the upcoming final season. Season 3 is available on Blu-ray, and Season 4 will begin airing this fall.

I received the above mentioned Blu-ray for free for a review. All opinions are 100% my own.
