Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the DVD I reviewed in this blog post. The opinions I share are my own.
Lucifer returns for a second season of laughs as he and Detective Chloe Decker hit the streets of LE to solve murders and spend more time together (awkwardly!). Not only does Lucifer need to sort out his love life, he and his brother Amenadiel have to deal with ‘mommy dearest’ who escaped from Hell at the end of season one. Like all mothers, Charlotte likes to meddle. And also try to tear down the Pearly Gates as well to get back at her husband, God.
This show is funny as Hell, pun totally intended. To watch the Devil constantly trip over himself and make a mess of things while trying to get the girl is hilarious. He takes two steps forward, and then twenty back. This season you also get to see more of the heavenly family dynamic, which easily explains why Lucifer is the way he is: they are all crazy and dysfunctional.
He spends the majority of the season debating on whether or not to show Chloe his true face so she’ll know he really is the Lucifer. He does show Dr. Linda, his therapist, to hilarious results. Now, despite his idiocy, Lucifer and Chloe do get pretty close to getting together…but saying any more would be spoilers.
But I will give you one of my favorite bits from the season between Lucifer and Chloe (the quote might not be exact, doing it from memory):
Overall, season two of Lucifer is a must watch. The full season is available now, and season 3 is coming this fall on Mondays at 8/7c on FOX.
