The earrings have a post back attached to a brass colored metal clip. The clip holds the loop, which has a tortoise shell look. They look nice and can be paired with a large number of outfits. My hair is short (pixie cut), so they really stand out. Also, I noticed that they were a bit heavy compared to what I normally wear…but there again I usually wear small earrings.
Overall, I think that the earrings are very nice. They are a little heavier than what I normally wear, but not enough to keep me from wearing them.
