This time of year, high school students have a lot going on. Many are planning Spring Break trips, others are preparing for graduation…yet there is one event that all are probably looking forward to: prom. Prom is one of the biggest events of the school year. Many think that getting a date is the hardest detail to iron out before prom, but I know from experience that it’s not. The hardest thing about getting ready for prom is picking out your prom dress.
Prom dresses come in several dress types, making it hard to pick out the right one. Prom dress types are very similar to wedding dresses, so you have A-Line/Princess, Empire, Sheath, Mermaid, and Ball Gown. You want to pick the type that will best match your body type. For example, a sheath type dress runs vertically from the shoulders to the floor and does not flare out like the others, making it the best choice for a slim body type since it hugs the body.
Once you have that picked out, you can move on to picking out the style of neckline, hemline/train, sleeves/straps, and fabric options. These options are endless and can make or break a dress. Again, you want to focus on what will best work for you. Make sure to consider what colors look best on you, and how you look in sleeves versus straps. Another thing you want to consider is how much skin you want to show off. Many schools have adopted dress code policies specifically for proms due to the large number of revealing dresses that are now available. Make sure to check to see if there are any rules or a dress code before you even begin shopping. The last thing you want to have happen is that you can’t wear your dress because it doesn’t meet the dress code.
One of the best places to shop for the prom dress is JenJen House. They have a huge selection of prom dress at affordable prices. They also have a wide selection of shoes and accessories as well, making easy to get everything you need all in one place. As long as you keep all these tips in mind, you shouldn’t have any problem finding a dress.
