Save Money On Car Repairs & Maintnence with Zubie

January 19, 2014

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Zubie for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I remember how excited it was to get my first car.  It was a red Plymouth Neon with the Espresso trim package.  I was ready to take off and go wherever.  However, I was unprepared to deal with all the expenses that come with car ownership.  Over the time that I owned that car, I had to replace speakers, change oil, replace the sparkplug housing (which led to my sparkplugs constantly blowing apart due to an error by the mechanic), and other sorts of maintenance.  As a college student at the time, it was failry expensive for me, but doable.

My current vehicle, a ’96 4RUNNER, tends to be a pain in the butt.  The previous owner put over 150,000 miles on it and didn’t once take care of it.  We’ve put a lot of time and money into it, and there are still issues with it.  Primarily, the sunroof leaks.  I learned that you have to blow the lines out periodically to keep them from getting clogged.  At the moment, the circuit is shorted out and we can’t open it in order to do that…so it has to stay under the carport and can’t be driven what it rains.  Total pain!

One of my resolutions this year to get my car, or ‘tank’ as I call it, completely fixed up and ensure that it stays that way for the foreseeable future so that I can save money.  To help me out, I’m considering using Zubie.  Zubie is a service that uses an easy to install key & mobile app to let you monitor your driving habits and keeps track your car’s system and condition.  This helps you save money on repairs and helps prevent breakdowns by giving you a low battery alert and simple translations of engine codes.   It’s especially great for teen drivers since you can track speeding, sudden acceleration, hard breaking, and vehicle location.

Have a Zubie New Year! order today with code SAVE20JANand SAVE 20% on one year of Zubie always-connected car service and a free Zubie Key. A great way to use your Best Buy and Amazon holiday gift cards!  (Offer good through February 28, 2013. Shipping charges may apply.)

You can can get more information about Zubie from their website, as well as follow them on Facebook and on Twitter.

Yes it is a great tool for parents to monitor their children’s driving. If you appear to be doing well after checking with this device you may want to install a device like Snapshot and save money on auto insurance.
