A few weeks back, I was asked to check out YourNovel. YourNovel is a site that let’s you pick out a pre-written romance story and customize the characters to be whoever you want. They have over 47 stories that cover a variety of categories, including fantasy (vampires, zombies, pixies), cruises & adventures.
Once you pick out your story, you can pick if you want the regular romance or the ‘wild’ romance. The wild romances have slightly more graphic love scenes, but nothing too explicit. They give you a sample scene from both versions to help you decide. Then you can add in all your character info. You get to customize a lot of details about the characters, including names, hair color & perfume/scent. All of the stores use the same form, so you many end up filling info in that doesn’t get used. Once you are done with that, you can order your book. You can choose between getting a hardcover, paperback or ebook. The books are ready in a few days and then mailed out.
I got a period pirate story, High Seas Romance, with the more graphic love scenes. The story takes place in the 1800s and features a courageous Royal Navy captain & his love, who will do anything to keep from being left behind. I made the mistake of using mine & my husband’s normal perfume & cologne, so it reads kind of weird in the few scenes where they mention scent. Other than that, I really liked it.
Overall, I really enjoyed the story from YourNovel. They are fun to read and make great gifts. The only downside is the prices, which I thought were unusually high being that the story I got wasn’t all that long.
