Back in the 30s and 40s, pulp fiction published everything from romance to westerns to sci-fi. L. Ron Hubbard was one of the most influential of these authors and has since become one of the most well know. Most of his works were published during this time, years before he wrote Scientology. Galaxy Press is working on re-releasing all of is Golden Age work. The Professor Was a Thief tells the story of senior reporter Pop as he works to get the story of a lifetime in order to save his job.
I absolutely love reading all the old pulp fiction stuff. While the story is a short story, it does have a few chapters. It was very well written & engaging, and didn’t take me too long to read. I was suprised that it was also a bit funny too. The book also included Battle of Wizards and The Dangerous Dimension. These stories were also good, but I thought that Professor was the best. I was also sent a copy of the audio book too. We listened to it in the car and my daughter really seemed to like it. It had music & sound effects, and was narrated by Jim Meskimen.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Any of the books available on the site would make great gifts to any who loves reading. All the books are paperback & many of them contain three stories. They cost $9.95 (+ shipping) each. The audio books are available for the same price. Also, they have some free e-books available for download. You can check them out at GoldenAgeBooks.com.
I received the above mentioned book & audio book for free to help facilitate my review.
