A few weeks ago, I was asked to check out Novica. Novica works in association with the National Geographic Society to bring you unique, handcrafted items from around the world. They carry a huge selection of items that you will most likely not find anywhere else, including jewelry like Jade Necklaces , Amethyst Dangle Earrings & Wrap Bracelets. You can also find handmade clothing like WoolShawls, Alpaca Wool Sweaters, Women’s Cardigan Sweaters, & Women’s Cardigan Sweaters. . . plus household items and much more.
I was given a gift certificate to purchase anything that I wanted on the site. At first, I figured that I wouldn’t be able to get much since many of the products offered on the site are somewhat expensive (I didn’t find anything under $14). Plus, many businesses don’t usually give us reviewers much in the way of gift certificates…many times due to money constraints. However, I just about keeled over in my chair when I opened my email to see a code for $75! Holy cow! I’ve never been given that much to play with before.
I spent the next three days shifting through everything on the site to figure out what to get. I wanted to make sure that I picked out several different things so that I could get a better idea of the quality of the craftsmanship. I went into subheadings like ‘Unique Gifts‘ & ‘Gifts for Mom’ to narrow down my search. You can also search by price range as well. Eventually, I settled on three items: a pair of ‘Good Luck Cats’ figurines from Taiwan, a pair of ‘Coins of Earth’ braded wristband bracelets from Taiwan, and a special item for my mom for her birthday from Mexico (I won’t name it here since she’ll see it).
I expected for the items to take few weeks to arrive since they were being imported in. But, I had them in less than two weeks. All three items arrived on the same day in two separate boxes. The cats and bracelets came with a handwritten note, thanking me for my business. The cats were wrapped in the most beautiful wrapping paper that I have ever seen, while the bracelets were in a matching box sitting on a small pillow. The birthday item was also gift wrapped in lovely paper. Each item also came with a small tag that described it and a quick note from the designer/artist. The cats are beautiful and look exactly as they do in the picture on the site. I am very pleased with them and I’ve alrady had several comments about them. The bracelets are also very beautiful. I can’t even imange the amout of time that someone put into making them.
With my purchase, I earned a few ‘passport stamps’ which earn me rewards as I reach certain levels. You can also earn credits by inviting your friends, and also by making loans to your favorite artist. You can also get access to flash sales, where items can be up to 70% off.
Overall all, Novica is an excellent site that you really need to check out. All of the items I got were around $20 to $30 each. There are a lot of inexpensive gifts to choose from, and there are also very nice & interesting gifts available in the higher price brackets as well. You will easily be able to find something for everyone, even guys. My husband liked a lot of the handcrafted furniture, but it was out of our price range. There are two shipping options that I saw. $5.95 gets you standard shipping with varying delivery times. You can also get the expedited shipping, which will cost a lot more depending on where your purchase is coming from. You can check out the Novicawebsite to see what all they have, and also visit them on Twitter and Facebook.
