I can’t really get into the movie without giving tons of spoilers, so I’ll make it quick and to the point. As far as staying with the book, the movie did very well. There were some key scenes missing, but then again I don’t think they could have added them in due to the some of the changes made in the past films. The acting and effects were all top notch too.
The part that really made the movie for me, though, was the redemption of Severus Snape. Severus’s death follows almost exactly with the book, and Alan Rickman was brilliant…but what really took everyone by suprise was the impact of the pensive scene. The writes were very creative and changed it from the book. They give Severus’s character a depth that wasn’t even seen in the book. He loved Lilly so much, yet he gave her up so that she would be happy. He then focused the reast of his life to protect Harry and keep him on the path he needed to follow, even at the cost of Harry hating him. The most pivital scene (spoiler!) showed a younger Severus in Ghodric’s Hollow on the night Lilly and James died. I won’t go into details, but that one part alone nearly brough the entire theater into sobs. It shows you how moving it was when I’m tearing up just typing about it.
Anyway, this was an excellent movie. I’d love to hear you thoughs on the movie and what you though about it.
