Product Review – Glow2Go Self Tanning Towelettes

June 16, 2015

20150616_195044A few days ago, I was sent a box of Glow2Go Self Tanning Towelettes by Thermalabs to try out and review. The wipes give you a natural looking tan in less than 4 hours, without any streaking.

I’ve always used either gel or lotion, so this was my first experience using wipes. The wipes are a fairly good size, and while saturated with the tanning liquid, they aren’t dripping. In the tip guide, they recommend that you shave and/or exfoliate your skin at least 24 before use and avoid using any lotions in order to ensure an even coverage. I did think the day before, and then used the wipes the following evening.

The first thing I noticed was that you cannot tell where you have previously used the wipe, since the liquid goes on clear. So, I took my time and did slow, even strokes. And I also made sure to lightly cover my knees. One wipe covered both legs & the tops of my feet. I noticed that it was getting noticeably dry by the time I finished the second leg, so you would probably need more than one wipe to do your whole body. The liquid dried very quickly, within a few minutes. It took several hours before I started to notice any color showing up. It looked okay at first, so I didn’t pay it any mind and went to bed.

In the morning when I got up, however, it was a different story. The color of the tan looked very good & natural, but it was very streaked. There were several spots that didn’t have any color, even though I was pretty certain that I covered those areas, and others were super dark. I attempted to use another wipe to touch-up those areas. While it did add some color, it only made the streaking worse. In short, it looked awful.

tanwipesI ended up taking a shower, in an attempt to get the color to fade a little. I didn’t hold much hope of that since it says that it’s supposed to last a week. However, almost all of it came off without much effort. The only spots that you could still faintly see were the really dark ones.

Overall, I didn’t have a lot of luck with the wipes. It streaked & didn’t last through one shower. Personally, I think that I’ll stick with gel or lotion. But I’ve seen others that have had success with it on the Amazon reviews. The wipes are available on both Amazon & the Thermalabs website. Thermalabs also carries several other products, including tanning lotion.

I received the above mentioned product for free to help facilitate my review.  All opinions are 100% my own.
