TV Review – The Mentalist Season 7

April 28, 2015

The_Mentalist_-_The_7th_and_Final_SeasonSince 2008, audiences as followed the escapades of Patrick Jane (Simon Baker), a consulting member of the CBI (California Bureau of Investigation). For the first six seasons, he hunted serial killer Red John and was finally able to get revenge for the death of his family…but at the cost of becoming a fugitive. After 2 years on the run, Jane returns to the US to work for the FBI and to the woman he fell in love with, Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney). The final 13 episodes of The Mentalist find Jane & Lisbon dating and working cases together for the FBI, as well as getting married.

I haven’t watched The Mentalist in a long time, so I still have quite a lot to get caught up with. But the final season has closed out the series very well. I don’t want to give out too many spoilers for those who haven’t seen any of the episodes yet…making this review exceedingly difficult to write. The final episodes see Jane and Lisbon take their relationship to the next level and travel around solving cases for the FBI. The team is joined by a few new faces, and we see the return of Erica Flynn (Morena Baccarin). In the final two episodes, Jane proposes to Lisbon & everyone gathers to celebrate, while serial killer ‘Lazarus’ stalks them. The show ends with a wedding, and a surprising (and happy) announcement.

Overall, the series comes to a very satisfying ending, and is definitely worth adding to your DVD collection. The DVD collection (which I reviewed) includes all 13 episodes on 3 disks, the all-new featurette Patrick Jane: An Uncommon Man & deleted scenes. The final season releases on DVD & Digital HD today.

I received the above mentioned item for free to help facilitate my review.  All opinions are 100% my own.
