Guest Article – Transforming Summer Wear into Fall Time Ensembles

October 29, 2014

Stop — before tucking away that summer tunic in your summer storage box keep it out a little bit longer. You may be making a mistake by putting away all of your summer clothing when a lot of it is still wearable throughout fall and winter. All it takes is a little bit of reinvention and creativity. If you keep a lot of your clothing out you’ll have some wonderful “new” outfits for fall. Here are some ideas on how to refurbish your summer wear into dreamy fall and winter ensembles.

Before you Put Away the Tunics:

A tunic doesn’t just have to be paired with thin leggings during the summer. During the fall your tunics can turn into a shirt that can be worn over a pair of jeans. In fact, slimming jeans will do just the trick. You can choose to keep your shirt tucked in or out, depending on your preference. If you are wearing skinny jeans having your tunic out will complement your figure. For accessories, wear a bubble necklace or another lovely favorite necklace that you like to wear often. Flats will keep this look casual, but if you’re headed out for a fun evening with the family, a pair of pumps will go perfectly too.

Before you Put Away the Summer Dresses:

Did you know that summer dresses can easily be converted into tops by adding a skirt? Pull out your patterned summer dresses and find a skirt that goes well with the dresses you already own. Wear either a black loose or pencil skirt depending on how fitted your dress is and you will have a new outfit. Simply wear the skirt over the bottom part of your dress, but of course measure to make sure everything aligns well. If you’re creative like this you won’t have to buy new winter outfits because you now have created a brand new outfit with summer attire. Tada!

Before you Put Away the Tank Tops:

Tank tops are ideal for summer, but they also are ideal for layering during the fall and winter time. Wear them under a long sleeved top, such as a plaid shirt, and with a pair of jeans. A tank top is perfect for layering because during the fall time it can be cold one minute and hot the next. Tall jeans for women are flattering worn with tank tops and you can add extra style to this silhouette with a blazer jacket and a simple necklace and other dazzling accessories.
