Do You Give A Cup? — Hot Dog Eating Contests

June 29, 2013

I love hotdogs.  They aren’t the healthiest things around, but they are so good with ketchup, mustard, and relish…and sometimes sauerkraut.  Plus, they are the stable food of baseball parks everywhere.  And where there are hotdogs, there are hotdog eating contests.
What’s better than watching people consume mass quantities of the ever-popular tubular meat, and run the risk of throwing up?  Okay, I admit, it’s not for everyone.  But it’s one of my favorite things to watch on 4th of July.  It also helps that Takeru Kobayashi is totally hot and I hope that he gets to compete this year.  You have to respect the men and women who compete since most of them can easily knock back 50 to 60 hotdogs, bus too, in less than 10 minutes and not fall into a food coma or have an instant heart attack.

What do you Give A Cup about?  Visit doyougiveacup.com and vote so that the Navy Yard Metro Station in Washington DC can get some coffee from Peet’s Coffee.
